“Drug Czar” John Walters, of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, finds that Reefer Madness was true after all! That office is about to release a report “finding” that: “using marijuana increases the risk of developing mental disorders by 40 percent…”

Why, I wonder, is not most of my generation dead of suicide or insane? Such imponderables keep me as agitated as poor Czar Walters.

I have not read the study but I doubt that it includes statistics on how much being arrested and and imprisoned for using marijuana increases the incident of mental disorders. I wonder if Mr. Walters calculates his own contribution to increasing mental disorders.

Of course, the people pushing this also insist that abortion and contraception increase the risk of breast cancer and so on und so weiter, so they don’t exactly represent the gold standard of credibility.
Speaking for myself, I suppose that were I not so fond of red wine I’d have a better idea of what havoc pot and acid have wrought upon my neurons. With ten patents and several million$, I’d suspect not much; in fact, I doubt that I would have been more productive had I been more abstemious.

bad jim: Red wine cannot be a cause of any harm, because the state does not arrest those who buy or sell it. So feel safe, pal. Of course, if you’ve done weed, you may be traduced into thinking otherwise — it makes you insane.
