South African port and truck workers are refusing to move weapons from a ship that docked in the country on its way to Zimbabwe, union officials said Friday.

    The ship was on its way to Zimbabwe? Now, that would be worth seeing. The weapons on their way to Zimbabwe, that seems more plausible. (For those who don’t know, Zimbabwe is landlocked.)

    In this case, the union’s role was absolutely vital, in that the government of South Africa was perfectly willing to let the 70 tons of Chinese RPGs, mortars and ammunition be offloaded and transferred to Zimbabwe to Mugabe’s forces.

    The ship then tried to arrange docking in Mozambique and was refused, and it was thought to be heading to Angola, but will have to refuel somewhere in order to make it there.
